Velkommen til den 12. nordiske konference i Turku den 30.-31. maj 2013.

Welcome to Turku, and welcome to the 12th biannual research conference of

NNDR, the Nordic Network on Disability Research. This conference brings

together researchers, policy makers, activists and practitioners to share

scholarship and ideas, and provides a forum for international collaboration in

disability studies. NNDR is a multidisciplinary network of researchers. We

welcome a wide range of contributions applying social, cultural, historical and

philosophical perspectives to the study of disability.

Disability  studies is a relatively new field where various theories and

viewpoints  coexist, and contribute to the development of the field. We wish to

celebrate  this diversity by welcoming a mixture of viewpoints, theoretical

accounts and  practical applications covering humanities, social sciences and

various applied  sciences such as education, law and urban design.

On  behalf of the Conference Committee

Joel  Kivirauma, Professor, University of Turku

Simo  Vehmas, Professor, University of Jyväskylä, President of NNDR
